We are in very URGENT need of standby volunteers (and event volunteers) so if you care about helping our pups please jump in to help and/or share this email with 5 friends in the Los Angeles area that may be able to pitch in and help volunteer.
A Standby Volunteer is someone who can be on-call in case we have a last-minute transportation need. It could be anything from taking a dog to the vet, to a new foster, getting medication or supplies to a dog or most importantly, being a dog's hero by giving her/him a "freedom ride" from a shelter where they may be euthanized.
After sending in your schedule, we will check with you to confirm that you are able to help put on that day still and contact you if anything comes up. We try to let people know a few days in advance but sometimes we have emergencies pop up that very day! If you can't be on-call for a full day, even a few hours helps a lot. We like to have a list of Standby Volunteers scheduled 2 weeks out. Do you have any time in the next 2 weeks that we could add you to this list? If you do, please let us know the days and time windows.
If you can answer yes to any of these questions below, please let us know!
Can you dedicate one day per week to be on standby to help us out?
Do your work days fluctuate and your availability will change?
Can you commit to being on standby after work?
Being a standby volunteer helps us reach out to volunteers with availability that day instead of calling our entire volunteer list. If there is a day, half a day, or even a few hours you can volunteer to be placed on a "call in case of an emergency" list, let us know! This can be for many different tasks, and almost always requires some driving.
