Volunteer Opportunity: Web Designer/Developer for Women-Run Charity

Are you a passionate web designer or developer looking to use your skills to make a real impact? We are a women-led nonprofit focused on food rescue and recovery programs, serving cancer patients, military families, single moms, and single dads. Our charity operates on a zero-dollar budget, and we need your help to improve our website and better serve our community.

About Us

We are dedicated to fighting food insecurity by rescuing and redistributing surplus food to those in need. Our programs help families facing challenging circumstances, including cancer patients and military families. We believe in delivering not just food but hope, with a focus on inclusivity and compassion. However, due to limited resources, our current website does not meet the needs of our growing community, and we’ve been struggling to keep up with the demands.

Recently, a business partner overseeing a mall food rescue contract scolded us and threatened to remove our charity from the project unless we hire a volunteer who can go on behalf of us to each restaurant vendor and speak to managers about how our charity is assigned to their location that we need to get in touch with corporate and let them know we are approved by the malls owners to come daily for food pickup food. Once we have someone such as a food recovery operations manager or director, POC person in charge, and we improve our online presence, we will have our access back to the 45+ restaurants.

Unfortunately, we lack the funds and expertise to fix the website ourselves, but with your help, we can continue this important work.

Type of help: What We Need We have a functional website with call-to-action buttons already in place, but it needs significant tweaking and redesigning to improve usability and appeal. We’re looking for a volunteer web designer/developer who can help us take it to the next level and ensure that our site effectively communicates our mission and attracts new supporters. Skills Required (Preferred but Not Required) * Proficiency in WordPress * Familiarity with Elementor * JavaScript, CSS, and PHP * Design experience with a focus on UX/UI * Understanding of SEO best practices * A passion for supporting charitable causes
