About the organization:

We are a nonprofit organization based in New York. We provide therapeutic enrichment services to children. Services are open to all children, but especially benefit those who have ADHD, learning disabilities, and special needs.

We are virtual, so this volunteer work can be done anywhere/any location.

Your role:

Seeking an experienced Chef/Cook to teach basic cooking skills to a small group of students. You create your own lesson plans. Students must be taught safety in the kitchen.

We will cover costs of materials/ingredients

Classes meets 1 day per week for 1 and 1/2 hours per class

Days and time: Weekends (most likely). Morning hours after 11:30am, and afternoon hours before 3:00pm

Location: On-Line

Job Requirements:

*2 to 3 years of work experience as a Chef, Line Cook, or Home Cook (for your family). A culinary background, such as classes, degree programs is preferred.

*1 year of experience working with kids (elementary or middle school age). This experience can include: babysitting work, tutoring, working at school as a chef or cook.

*Zoom account and computer is required

*You must have and bring your own cooking equipment

*You must have your own kitchen to use

*You must have patience with young kids

You will receive excellent training on how to teach a class of students on-line. A willingness to learn and be trained is important here.

What else ...: Our Volunteers work with kids as tutors or teachers. Classes are small, so you get to see kids grow and develop as you help them with learning strategies and life skills. We have wonderful volunteers, and kids and families say they really like our programs and support. This is the experience you get when volunteering your time with us.
