Animal Caregiver Support Team Member

AHELPer volunteers in the Caregiver Support Program provide comprehensive care with both trained AHELPers and Professional Network Members, learning from one another through working together as an interdisciplinary team. AHELPers connect with families over Zoom with the Animal Hospice Team Manager to and participate in ongoing email and phone support.

Our training and mentorships offer unique opportunities to learn about the developing field of animal hospice and palliative care.

You would be a great fit as an Animal Caregiver Support AHELPer if you have also been inspired by personal experience with your own animal(s) in the end of life.

You are exceptionally well-qualified if you have any or a combination of:

experience in human hospice, experience in animal end-of-life,
talents and skills in animal services like bodywork or energy work,
talents and skills in family services like counseling and social work.

What else ...: The Animal Hospice, End of Life, and Palliative Care, or AHELP Project, works with veterinarians to support the family, which includes the patient or animal and their closest caregivers. Through evaluating choices, decision making assistance, and companionship, caregivers can prepare for their loss and feel empowered to act on their plans for their animal companion's peaceful farewell. In 2010, our mission began with animal end-of-life awareness and education programs, along with conventional support groups. With the interest we have spawned, we are now proudly offering AHELPer volunteer positions within our Animal Caregiver Support Program, working alongside veterinarians, counselors and spiritual supporters. AHELPer volunteers join us because they want be a part of a solution to enhance the end-of-life journey for our animal friends. They have want the same gentle, dignified decline for their animal family members that their human loved ones experienced through hospice care Through our We can serve more famlies with animal hospice and palliative care services through our wonderful volunteers coupled with nonprofit fundraising strategies of grant writing and sponsorships.
