Seamstresses wanted to make Memory Bears

As part of our bereavement program, we sometimes offer to make a Memory Bear for the family. Memory Bears are teddy bears made from clothing and belongings with sentimental value, usually made in remembrance of a loved one or as a keepsake to pass from one generation to another. In making a Memory Bear, old clothes are transformed into a beautiful and comforting bear. The Memory Bears are made from shirts, sweatshirts, blouses, bathrobes, uniforms, fleece, flannel, and cotton (nothing too stretchy). The family will provide at least 1 yard of usable fabric and all fabrics will be cleaned, pressed and without holes. The family will also include buttons for the eyes. We will also provide the pattern and the fiberfill for stuffing the bear. We are looking for volunteers willing to make Memory Bears. Each volunteer can choose how many bears they are willing to make - 1, 2, or more a month.
