About the role

PEOI, a provider of university-level courses free of charge at www.peoi.org, seeks authors with a background in teaching or work experience, who would like to join a group of colleagues developing an introductory course in forensic science.

We are looking for course authors to write and edit materials of the "Introduction to forensic science" course. You will use your scientific knowledge, research, and writing skills to produce well-researched course content.

Set your convenient working schedule to work on chapter text, cases, assignments, reading lists, summaries, class discussions, and test questions, as well as research and add examples, statistics, and citations from open educational resources.

Your contribution is of utmost importance. Please bring your skills to help millions of disadvantaged students all over the world, who do not have access to traditional education because of where they live, time constraints, or insufficient income. Join over 10,000 like-minded volunteers who want to change the world. The volunteer name will appear on all pages to which he/she has contributed.

Upon completion of a significant portion of work, PEOI's certificate will be issued upon application.

Requirements

An advanced university degree in forensic science or equivalent certification is essential. Strong science and technology background is preferred.

Previous experience in teaching or working in the forensic science field.

Previous scientific research and writing experience is an advantage.

Ability to interpret and present scientific information in a clear manner to reach the targeted students.

Scientifically curious and motivated

Ability to work well independently and communicate with the writing team and team leader.

Language skills: proficiency in English is essential.

Computer skills: Computer proficiency is essential to navigate PEOI’s platform and the web. Proficiency in Microsoft Office is essential. Basic knowledge in HTML is an advantage ( All PEOI's course pages are in HTML. Authors will not be responsible for any HTML code, but only for the text in between)

Authors are welcome to work on chapter text, cases, assignments, reading lists, summaries, class discussions and test questions, as well as research and add examples, statistics and citations. Experts in illustration, video and programming are also needed. All PEOI's course pages are in HTML. Authors will not be responsible for any HTML code, but only for the text in between. Some content can be imported from open education resources, i.e. material that is not copyright restricted such as in wikipedia or courseware at major universities. You must have the skills to locate and import such material. Help disadvantaged students and aspiring professionals improve their lives by giving them a university education, and contribute to economic development of the count
