Public Relations Specialist for Food For All DC

AMURT's Food For All DC (FFA) program has been providing food to people facing adversity in Washington, DC since 1984. FFA delivers nutritious groceries to home-bound people throughout DC. Our recipients include those with health issues and disabilities, as well as older adults and single parents with young children.

We offer opportunities for meaningful volunteer engagement that expresses a spirit of compassion into the world and brings people closer together.

Type of help: Role Overview: As a PR Specialist, you will be a key contributor to raise awareness and strengthen the public image and reputation of FFA, particularly as FFA celebrates its special 40th anniversary this year. Working closely with the communications team, you will help craft and disseminate compelling messages, stories, and information to the public, media, and other stakeholders.

What else ...: Key Responsibilities: Media Campaign and Relations: Cultivate and maintain relationships with media outlets, journalists, and influencers to secure coverage for FFA. Collaborate with the communications team to plan and execute PR campaigns that align with organizational goals and mission. Ensure consistent messaging and branding in all external communications. Media Strategy and Monitoring: Monitor media coverage related to FFA and relevant industry trends. Provide regular updates to the communications team and/or recommendations for FFA’s public relations campaigns Press Release Writing: Draft press releases, media advisories, and other communication materials to announce and promote events, initiatives, and organizational news Outreach: Help FFA collect / source leads for corporate volunteering, fundraising, partnerships, or others. Event Support: Support the PR aspects of (FFA’s 40th anniversary) events, including media coordination, press conferences, and interviews
